Safety Gaps.

Picture Above shows both the Transformer Safety Gap, and The Capacitor Safety Gap As Used in this Coil

Capacitor Safety Gap.

The purpose of this spark gap, is to protect the capacitor bank against an over-voltage situation. This basically only ever fires if the motor is powered down before the HV supply. Its mostly there for piece of mind as there is over $600AUS worth of capacitors in my MMC.

Transformer Safety Gap

This safety gap is extremely important, It protects my 6-Stack MOT Supply from over voltage. This gap will fire if there is ever a primary strike, and also if the phase of the spark gap is a long way out. With the gap set too wide here, the transformers would certainly fail at the first sign of trouble.
