Coil Specs,

Secondary 4"

Primary 11 Turns, Inverse Cone, of thick magnet wire.

MMC 44nF

Asynchronous Rotary Spark Gap

Maximum Spark measured to grounded rod, about 1 meter.

Air Gap

Pressurised Air Is Fed in though the pvc fittings, which then flows though the centre of the bolts, this provides very good quenching, and keeps the electrodes quite cool.

Rotary Spark Gap

They rotaty gap cost practically nothing to construct and worked quite well. It is just made up from a cheap bench grinder, a plastic cutting board, a metal disc - cut into a donut and some bolts etc.

Just After Completion

A Friend who helped in the inital constuction sitting next to the coil, wondering if it would actually work.

Getting Zapped!

Another of my friends decided to hang onto the coil while it was running, just look at his expression must be in lots of pain. Just Kidding, it was off.

MMC Bank

The MMC for the 4" coil was made up for 36, 0.1uF 1500V Caps, 9 in series , in 4 banks. Giving a total of about 44nF

Primary Construction

The Primary Was just Glued into place.
